Win Another Million Game Show Event Day

It was an exciting day greeting the three finalist on the red carpet as they arrived by limo at  Prosperity Partners, Inc. Everyone had been anticipating this day for 6 months.  We were all dressed up for our special guests for the Win Another Million Contest.

I met Linda B., Sergio M. and Carmen W. and their spouses face to face and got to know them a bit before the game got started.  They mingled with PPI employees during the lunch buffet.  I definitely think they felt welcome.  All of them had traveled a good distance to be here.  Carmen had never been to Florida before. She said this contest afforded her this once in a life time opportunity.

As former lottery winners, I thought all this excitement would have been no big deal to them. But they were genuinely honored to be here.  I don’t think they knew what to do with all of the attention and VIP treatment though.  They were a bit nervous about getting up there in front of the crowd and cameras to start pulling envelopes.

When Linda got up for her turn she said no matter what happens, the whole experience was so wonderful she is already a winner.

Tom Balletta our CEO was grinning from ear to ear. He gave his good luck charm to each contestant before they went up.  I could tell he really wanted them to win a big amount.

Jason, our host for the event, asked Linda “Are you ready?” She said “no” and everyone laughed.  Her hands were shaking as she opened each envelope.

Sergio was seizing the moment with gusto.  He strode up to the front like a man with a plan. His wife was holding his bag of envelopes.  She brought the bag up to him and gave him a good luck kiss.

Carmen got a bit weepy when she stepped up. I noticed a few people in the crowd dropping a few tears with her.  We were with them the whole way through all the up and down emotions of the day. At different times the crowd was chanting million, million, million, clapping, whistling or shouting “I know you can do it”.

As each one opened the envelopes, Jason held up the amount and layed it on the table.  Little piles of $1 million, $100,000, $10,000 and $500 were building up on the table.  They needed 5 of one amount to win that amount.  We really were hoping for a million dollar winner.

At the end of it all, each contestant took home a cash prize.  Champagne bottles popped and drinks were toasted to the contestants winning. By the end of the day we were shaking hands, hugging and exchanging emails as we said our goodbyes.  The contestants wrapped up their exciting day with dinner at a fabulous local restaurant hosted by PPI employees.   I will say, a memorable time was had by all.

Using Resources Wisely Series – Part 7

Americans expect things fast and instantaneous. Most people feel driving is a right not a privilege. Even though many people are fuming about being inconvenienced by high gas prices, I believe many Americans will eventually find the balance between convenience and conservation of resources.
