My Annuity Adventure, The Quest for Understanding – Part I
Okay I am officially a blogger now what do I write about? I am new to this company and to the whole funding thing (my job has nothing to do with Annuities). I am in this meeting discussing what to write about. I say “I don’t even know what an annuity is?” Someone says, start there. So here I go on my quest to understand Annuity.

I figure I will do what most people do when they need to learn something, I will Google it! Simple, right? I type in,”what is an annuity,” push the button, and wait for the magic answer to appear. Ugh! Up pops 29 definitions with 29 sites to visit. None of the definitions are the same. Who knew? I thought this would be like looking in a dictionary. Hey that’s a good idea. Well, dictionary.com has 8 varied definitions, followed by definitions for joint life annuity, joint and survivor annuity, life annuity, immediately annuity, group annuity, deferred annuity, conventional annuity, contingent annuity, annuity certain, refund annuity, straight life annuity, variable annuity. And the grand finale, drum role please….. is…. life income period certain annuity.
Wow. What a mountain of annuity. Now I am going to have to narrow down my annuity investigation to identify the kinds of annuities that we work with at Prosperity Partners. I may need to take a class or get a book to help me unravel this tangled annuity web. I thought it would be easier. I can only imagine how daunting it is for someone who needs to understand the process of selling their annuity payments. Check back in next week and see how my annuity adventure progresses.
