Claim that winning ticket!
Like millions of others, sometimes I indulge in a little gambling. That is, I buy a lottery ticket. The What If? game is always an endless source of amusement. It forces you to think about the choices you would have to make? Travel right away, or take some time to plan the ultimate vacation? Red corvette or black hummer? Ok, so I totally would not buy a hummer or a corvette, but…I like thinking about the day when I have to make choices like that. Doesn’t everyone?
Back to my lotto ticket, though. So, I went online to check the numbers last weekend, and unfortunately, you are not reading the writing of a lottery winner. But, while checking my numbers, I found out some other mildly interesting things about winning the lottery. In Florida, if you do not claim your winnings within 60 days, you aren’t able to choose the one-time lump sum payment. Instead, you will have to go with annual payments over 20 or 30 years.
Of course, for one, how many people have waited more than two months before claiming a prize like lottery money? Maybe the ticket was hiding in their shoe and they forget about it for awhile. (Yeah, go check your shoes or any other hiding places now!)
