Cash is King
‘Cash is king” is a cliché for the importance of cash flow in order for a business to remain healthy. A business can have a positive balance sheet and still not have money to pay wages or to make purchases. “Unless it was able to convert its accounts receivable and other current assets to cash quickly, it could be technically bankrupt despite a positive net worth.”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash_is_king
“While cash is king, cash flow is definitely a better option. So here’s a question: What can you do to infuse a… stream of cash into your business?” Michel Fortin
Do you own a business that is short on cash flow from being negatively impacted by the current economy? Have you explored all your options including tapping into your credit cards, saving, borrowing from family, selling or borrowing from real estate holdings or cashing out your structured settlement, jackpot or lottery winnings? Any of these may be what you need to pull your business out of a financial slump or save your business from going under.
Certainly, “ In a recession cash is king.” It is an old saying and not without some wisdom. For when a recession strikes then asset prices fall - shares, real estate, just about everything you can buy - and the person with cash in hand can take advantage.” James McInerney, News Editor understood how to pay attention to opportunity when he wrote this three years ago in August 2005.
He continues in the article to say “It is safer and more logical to sit on your cash, and wait for cheaper markets. Should this advice prove premature… (I would say time has proven it was not) The important thing is to keep capital intact while others are losing theirs, and to live to invest another day… That time will come. Share prices will be lower. House prices will be at dream levels. Shops will be full of bargains.”
In 2005 Mr. McInerney forecasted a recession and advised us to take advantage of the market when our money would be worth more in the real estate market and other investments. The time has come and the time is now. Real estate is a buyers market especially if you have cash. It is difficult to get a bank to underwrite a loan with the present financial climate. As a cash investor you can profit from this current turn in the market and buy while your money is worth more!
