Bird In the Hand

It should be no surprise that people who get a settlement that involves long term payments eventually reach a state of disappointment. It’s great to have a monthly income, but reality sets in after a few payments. Most of the time the payments will end in the foreseeable future, and then what happens? The budget is set and the income drops…that’s what! The old saying about a bird in the hand being more valuable than a bird in a bush comes to mind. A structured settlement is a bird in the hand. Most people are smart enough to handle their money being handed to them in a lump sum, and that’s why selling a structured settlement makes sense. It’s like the commercial says….it’s my money and I want it now and not later. With the money in hand to invest, the bird is not only mine but it sings like a happy canary.
